The Cobblestone body and one sleeve is now ready and I can start sleeve no.2 this week.

I have just knitted a few rounds and then I was done. (blurry photo, I know, but too weak to repeat the “ordeal”)

Really, my energylevel today has been so low that even knitting has been a little chore. For the most part I just sat there. in the recliner. wathcing tv. Took a walk over to the computer to check “stuff”. Walked back to the recliner. Walked out to the kitchen for more coffee. Walked back to the recliner…

Hubby made a BBQ dinner, the Oldest cancelled work today since she has a bad cold too, but she chipped in with some salad making for dinner.

I am at the end of the one side of the alpaca neck warmer. Will finish before bedtime.

I am so grateful that I do’t start work until 10:30 tomorrow. I’m going to need a slow start!

I slept till 8:30, thank goodness. I think I need to nap away today if possibe- and just sit around drinking coffee and hot tea wiht honey in order to get better. My head feels like it is full of wool – and wool is very good, only not inside my head.Hubby and I got up before the girls, usually we find the Yongest downstairs on the computer when we get up, but last night the Oldest came home from work at 11:30 and the two of them ended staying up for a while their parents wandered upstairs to the bed. This must be the new era setting in; the one where you have two teenagers in the house with all its implications. (so far- 99% good)

Last night we had a taste of the good side of it: The Youngest made the hot meal, she picked Forrest Gump for us to watch together (and of course we all cried at the same scenes as always)and she put snacks out for when we watched the film. They are growing up! I kinda like it! You wonder if you’re going to be sad about it when they are young, but once you’re there you realize you’ve grown into the circumstances just like you’re supposed to, I guess.

Gotta get back to my kleenex and some knitting so I have something to show you all tonight!

which one is it? Maybe a bit of both..

At least in my garden.

I had a nap and now we are watching Forrest Gump which we’ve watched several times before, but it’s been a while now. it’s such a lovely movie. My youngest picked it for the evening.

I’m knitting on the alpacca- thingy. Getting somewhere now…

I’ve got a bad cold, I sneeze, I use kleenex after kleenex, I cough, I feel weak, I want a nap after a night of very little sleep.. I want to lay down like this guy..

I walked uptown to get my car this morning. I drove last night and we were at the pub so I left the car there. My dog enjoyed being taken for an unexpectedly long walk at a time where she usually is given very little attention.

I did the shopping – and felt like napping after- instead I went to Mom’s for a coffee. It’s been like summer today, so we spent time on the porch and were only bothered by two, three hornets occationally.

Now my youngest is cooking supper (yippy!!!); I have lounged with the newspaper, listening to one of my favourite Saturday radio shows ( “2o Questions”) and have decided to have a nap after supper! (I love my radio, Hubby got it for my one Christmas a few years ago)

I took a walk in the yard  today: You know, I never planted this sunflower, but it’s a nice addiotion!

I had a friend over for coffee after supper yesteday, and I got a few rounds done on this. Otherwise my knitting is not pogressing much these days…

Here; Hubby!(even though it’s not winter)

August 27, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Allow me to get  little personal: I have shown off the garage addition in the making.. and Hubby sits in his office out of town writing a comment in my blog, asking where the photo of his vintage skidoo is.

So here it i; taken apart wiht his won two hands, put together by him, made nice-looking by him, driven around afterwards by him, carrying us all and our baggage. Wow! You’re good. And one of your major good qualities is being very persistent in order to figure things out.

See ya tomorrow!

..and I’m loving it too!

Fall is a good time of year, too

August 25, 2008 · Leave a Comment

…. I must admit.

I just had a hard time letting go of summer..

These sweeties reminded me of all the autumn things we have waiting for us. Things to taste, smell, feel, eat, see. Even hear: ( we live in a part of town where it can get very windy in fall. )

Did you get inspiration for fall colours in your next  knitting project , maybe?

My Monday mornings are good this term. I start at 10:30 and can have a slow start at home. Not so this Monday morning; we had an appointment at the bank and I did a couple of other errands right after that. In the afternoon we had meetings that lasted so long that I didn’t even open my computer to start on something afterwards.

I wish I had a bulletin board on the side of my desk, but instead it is behind me. Nevertheless I always feel the need to decorate it with something more than just the useful charts and schedules that I need. So far this year I have put up some cute cut-outs from Beatrix Potter and one of Teesha Moore’s journal pages. More will be pinned on during the school year..

Remember  my collection postings? Here are something  more:

This is Hubby’s camera collection. (Three shelves are enough. He found that out too..)

No knitting did you say? Well, how about showing a much beloved animal?

Yardwork before fall sets in. Also some knitting.

August 24, 2008 · 1 Comment

My outdoor plants are still holding up, so in that sense i guess we could say it is summer still..

but it’s definetly getting cooler and it takes longer for the grass to dry in the morning. I moved some lawn chairs and tables up to the porch today and that was just the beginning! Hubby had decided to cut grass and trim bushes and hedges before it’s too late. Next weekend he’ll be finishing the shed so it was now or never.

We bagged an enormous amount of clippings that Hubby will drive to the dump tomorrow

On Saturday Hubby cleaned out the garage so that there is room for his car. it’s been a mess for a while..

It was Hubby’s workshop for the restoration of his old vintage snow mobile (see the workbench?)

So now fall is slowly approaching and in the clean-up of the garage we found a few pieces of left over firewood from last year. It reminds me that there will be nights ahead where I’ll be knitting by the fireplace.

And this is how far I’ve gotten on the Cobblestone sleeve:

I also found time to do laundry, make meatballs and iron! Ironing; can’t stand it. If I can postpone it; i will. Sometimes I put it on the counter in the kitchen so that it’ll be in my face until I do something about it.

The result: This plus all the loosecovers for my dining chairs.

My oldest is back from the scout trip, Hubby is beat and his hip with all its  14 screws is aching. He headed for our bedroom to watch TV there.

My plan is to hog the TV in the living room and watch Miss Marple while knitting- not because I like Agatha Christie (which I don’t) but I love English productions in general.

Saturday bliss

August 23, 2008 · 1 Comment

One of the blissful moments of a Saturday at home is the afternoon when the coffee is brewing and today’s papers are in my lap.

On Thursday night I visited my friend who is home from Japan. She has her apartment not far from here, and a mutual friend of ours was also there. We talked and laughed for three hours- and i knitted on my alpacca neck-warmer-thinga-ma-jig the whole time (except when eating ice cream and berries..) So I got this far:

Last night I finnally did a more excact measurement of Hubby’s body in order to figure out that I had to start the Cobblestone sleeves before working further on the body of the sweater. This is the result so far. knitted a little while visiting Mom this afternoon, too..

I know we had pizza last weekend but I made a double batch of dough so I am now thawing it..

It is just Hubby and I at home. The oldest is on the scout trip (had an SMS, she is doing fine) and the Youngest was invited out for a girls’ evening from 5.00 to 10.00 at a friend’s house. I suspect this is the first Saturday we’ve ever been at home by ourselves!

I’ll be knitting later:)
