Snow
October 29, 2008 · Leave a Comment
Some snow came down towards the afternoon.. I took this photo out of the window at school while waiting for parents arriving for parent- teacher interviews.
In other parts of the country the amount of snow was considerably bigger than here.. It’s too early. Let at least Hallowe’en be over and letNovember start before I have to shovel snow out of the driveway!!!
I got home really late and I waited restlessly for this soup made on good stock. We didn’t eat until 6:30.
I’ve been putting some magazine cut-outs on my painted journal pages since last time.. They are only half- done..
I used Caran d’ache neocolour II for colouring.
I was supposed to go to the knitting cafe, but coming home this late made me decide to stay home. I’ll have a coffee and then walk the dog. Nine hours of social interaction of pedagogical nature leaves me with no urge for any more company than my two girls- if they want to come talk to me… Hubby is out of town working as he usually is from Tuesday till Thursday.

Dark Monday night

It got dark so fast this afternoon since we have turned back the clocks! I had some parent-teacher interviews after regular working hours and by the time I got in the car it started getting dark already. I thought I had to go to a meeting again right away but when I read the papers more thoroughly than the first time, I realized it wasn’t necessary.
So then I took the girls with me to the library hoping they could find themselves some books that would get them reading… till the last chapter! And I must admit we managed to kill the last of the Sunday dessert with a coffee afterwards!
apple crumble reaheating in the oven..
My walk with the dog tonight was spent listening to this digital book:THE BOOK THIEF (or in Norwegian: Boktyven)
I’ve spent time doing only little unimportant, but pleasant, little things after that: painting some pages in my journal and cutting some appealing stuff out of old magazines, for future collaging..
I’m going to try collaging, colouring and writing… and colouring more on them in order to find out if this book can withstand such treatment. If not , i need a different one for that purpose
Yesterday was spent starting a new weaving project. I’m going back to continue the preparation tomorrow. This is all new to me, I’m learning- and it is interesting. I brought the loom I first got a hold of, home, and I’ll finish the rag projects on that one here..
The sound of it will drive everybody crazy. .. They should flee the house every now and then, shouldn’t they?

Just got home after an evening out
October 25, 2008 · Leave a Comment
We’ve been with friends we hardly ever see tonight. Met them at the pub. My friend – whom is the one I ‘ve known for the longest time (since … as long as I can remember) was in town with her partner. We met uptown in the pub and spent a nice evening with them, yaking away as if we’re never apart. They live a good five hour drive from here so we often don’t see each other more than once or twice a year. Boy, is it nice once it happens! Thank you folks for a nice evening. I know now that she reads my blog every now and then..
The youngest has a friend sleeping over. The wind has died down a little, but we didn’t think she would like it by herself in this weather. So this arrangement was good. They rented a movie and bought goodies. Now they are upstairs in my youngest’s room. Beds are made but they are wide awake I can hear….

Crazy winds!
October 25, 2008 · Leave a Comment
The wind is awful here today. An we are right in the “epicentre” of it. The neighbours rooftiles have loosened and some have fallen down.. My car is parked very near, but so far none of them has hit anything. i hope it will be okay.
Nonetheless we are going out tonight to meet a childhood friend of mine and her husband. They live out of town so we usually don’t see them more than a couple of times a year. i doubt we’ll walk!!!! as a matter of fact…. maybe we shouldn’t go…
Here is a photo of my neighbours tree that just fell over, uprooted.. It’s taken through the window with rainddrops on it,that’s why it’sblurry. Hubby and dog just came from a record short walk. He said the rain whippes so hard against your face it hurts! They were both soaked!

Peace in the valley

As it starts getting dark out I have the opportunity to take some shots because my oldest is going on a trip with the scouts. They are using the cable car to get up to the mountains. The scouts have a cottage up there that is used quite frequently. She loves these trips. and since they are older they get to wake the younger ones in the middle of the night to go hunting for posts in the dark. Outside. They just couldn’t wait. And I can’t wait to see how tired (and grumpy from lack of sleep ?) she’ll be when she gets home on Sunday..
This is where the cable cars start. There is a red and a blue one; the Blueberry and the Cranberry
You can see the Gausta top from here, but from the side.
By the time I’m home it’s dark. That’s fall…
I’m ready to curl up with my little experimental crochet project, TV and a whole weekend ahead of me.

Windy! ..and people doing great favours for me!
October 23, 2008 · Leave a Comment
The wind is throwing everything about out there..
A tree on the neighbours’ side of the fence was uprooted. Not a very big and thick tree, but nevertheless! I walked the dog in strong winds, it was a shorter walk than we usually do. It rained too, so it wasn’t exactly a pleasant experience! Hubby made a fire – and our chimney is long so the fire didn’t go out. I curled up with my coffee and most hesitantly tore myself away from the crochet hook to put some laundry on.
I’ve made an extra supper tonight, a soup on good stock- and I just put it in the freezer for when we are to busy to cook around here. I was also supposed to bake this week because my daughter’s class is having this lunch thing and parents were asked to contribute. But my Mom said she would do it for me, so tomorrow I just pick up the cakes to put them in my freezer for when they are supposed to be delivered. I’m so grateful Mom!
My supplies for my new weaving projects have arrived from the out-of-town store and I am still new to the setting the loom up (don’t even know if that’s the right expression in English). One of the weaving ladies, who also spent an evening wiht me in order to find out what I needed- and how much- said we could get me started on Sunday if I wanted to. What a great favour! I’m really thankful to you, Helene! That means that next Tuesday I can continue on that, plus take down what I’ve been working on before.
I also have som little knitting and crocheting ideas for Christmas presents so today I bought a couple of yarn balls so I can experiment a little before I decide on type of yarn (above and underneath here) and how to knit/chrocet in order to get what I want .
I had to start my journaling right away on Tuesday since I had bought a new book..
