I managed to do it again: fool myself into thinking I was going to have a day of doing Nothing! Around one o’clock I got up from the comatose position in my recliner, hopped in the shower, put on laundry, hung up laundry, ironed Christmas curtains for the kitchen, decorated gingerbread (if you can call it that when you smear them with icing and drop some M&Ms on them), cleared some clutter and found the outdoor lantern, wrapped a present, got the advent candles ready…. and made supper after a while.
..so how come some of us can just lay around as if nothing is going on in the world -and I have to wrap all the calendar gifts?!?!
But now we are all sitting down for a coffee- and the girls, however old they get, insists on not lighting the first candle of advent until they do on the kids’ programming on Norwegian TV, NRK. And this year I turned 50-but I’m still looking forward to the kids show about the blue and red santas (blånisser) in Båfjell (Blue Mountain). Staring tomorrow! Yey!

I sleep in these days, when I am off work.. My body is somewhat achy, so I might as well take the time to do nothing and sleep when I can..
Sunday with no specific plans; cannot get any better right now. Due to the “no plans” I might even get something done, just because I can! Just as long as I don’t plan for it. Then I immediately get allergic to my own plans!!I should however take a walk with the dog while it is daylight. It’s lovely out there today!
When I visited Mandagspigen this morning I found out that the novel “The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas! has been filmed by Miramax. I have raved about that book to people- but I seemed to be the only one knowing about it. If you find it, pick it up. At least go see the movie when it comes!

All white outside
November 29, 2008 · 3 Comments
It’s been snowing all day. Big, wet flakes. It is so silent out there, white, beautiful.
Carly made this in the back yard so we can see it from one of the living room windows.
..This man is on his bike every day, several times a day. But you would think he would skip his evening trip at least tonight….
Hubby has been keeping the fire going slowly all day
I finally got the star out, the snow men and the ligth tree.
I haven’t touched my knitting today. I’m stiff and achy so I’d better leave it for a day or two. But journaling I can do! Preparing some pages for collage pieces to be glued later, writing to be done eventually…
I used Neocolour II (water solubles) from Caran D’ache on these pages. I also finished some pages over the last couple of days..
Sometimes I make larger pages and put them in a plastic folder like this:
This is size A4. The last page didn’t come out tight on the photo- we do have a scanner on our stationary computer now, but the internet connection has been broken and it should get fixed soon. Then I’ll start scanning instead..
My journal book is size A5. That’s handy for bringing along everywhere, but I would like to get a moleskine size A4 . And I could use some more pens of different kinds.I only have a couple of my gel pens left from a whole set of them. And i’d like to try the Sharpie pens. Maybe i’ll order some soon..

This little piggy…

was made from Liselotte’s pattern on the blog Slagt en hellig Ko. I’m working on a marcipan coloured one where I went for making it twice as big, but my shoulder muscles told me to take it easy at the end of last night…
Kristi served and cleaned up after a Christmas buffet at the mountain lodge where she works last night. She left home at three o’clock in the afternoon and didn’t return until one in the morning. We won’t wake her up!
The rest of us are having coffees in front of an open fireplace this morning. It’s snowing outside and today they are turning on the lights on the town square Christmas tree and they have old fashioned outdoor market there, too. Perfect with snow on a day like this! Carly took this photo just now:

Tea and candles
November 27, 2008 · Leave a Comment
Since eight o’clock I’ve spent the evening with te, candles and some knitting. I vacuumed and cleaned the floors after work, wlked the dog and put on laundry- but then I had spent what was left of energy after work. Besides, my legs are pretty achy tonight, both walking with and sitting with – so good tea, busy hands ,and some TV watching was what I needed.
I’m expecting Hubby home tomorrow. He was lucky not to go back to Norway together with the rest of the Norwegians who were in Vietnam on this business trip- they are now stranded in Bankok. Bill’s flight was via Hong Kong, and he left from Hanoi this morning, so he is at the moment sitting (or laying down sleeping, hopefully, since it’s business class he’s flying) on a plane going to Amsterdam. I miss him and will be glad when he is home! Almost two weeks is a long time.

Wednesday morning in the dark
November 26, 2008 · 1 Comment
It snowed a little last night and when I went to the mailbox this morning it was nice and white everywhere. Half an hour later: wet and slushy!
I have an appointment for an x-ray of my knee this morning so I won’t be heading out till right before nine. i live three minutes from the hopital by car.. When I’m done up there, I’ll go to work. My art class was supposed to start a little Hundertwasser project this morning- which is not that easy for a sub to jump into- so we’ll start when I get there- and finish it some time later.
I am at the last day of my week long anti- inflammatory treatment, and my knee isn’t swollen anymore. But it isn’t right either. We’ll have to see what they find. Thise littl ailments is crap; it’s nothing to wail about- yet at the same time it bugs me on a small scale- enough to make me a bit irritable.
And the dog isn’t well. She can’t keep her food down, if she does it isn’t right when – and where- it comes out. She has an appointment on Monday. An hour and a half to drive to a decent veterinarian with all the equipment needed. Talk about livin in the bush!
Enough whining! Really- there isn’t all that much reason to whine. So forget the last part of my posting. Life is pretty good! And in two more days, Hubby is home. Tired and jetlagged, I’m sure, but nevertheless…
