.. is something I always leave for others to make. I used to think they were SILLY! But then Bill decided to stop smoking three years ago -after smoking since he was 14! And he did it. Good for you Hubby!! Maybe New Years resolutions aren’t as dumb as I thought they were..
I just realized I’ve sort of made one myself this year: When December 2009 comes around I’ll be done with the Christmas presents!!!!!!
Actually I have bought one already, and I have started two! Not bad for not even having finished year 2008 !
Let’s Let’s just hope I can keep up the same pace..

will be spent at home. Just the four of us and the dog. We are going to make two kinds of pizza later and there is already low lighting and candles happening.
My friend T. was over for a cappucchino and we had lots of laughs and talked for a couple of hours. I am curled up on the old couch with knitting thinking how lucky I am to have all this surrounding me: A good Hubby, two great girls and a dog that is recovering well. This is all I need today! …. oh, and a glass of red wine by the fire later….

This is a rip-off of Marianne Østergaards design. I do not profess to have come up with the idea myself, I completely admit to having been inspired to make my own version of her design. But it is only for private use, no commercial interests here! I have made one so far and I think I am okay with the pattern I made, so I’ll start the other one tomorrow morning..

about my dog this morning.

She has been sitting by my feet begging for food like a healthy Lab would do under most circumstances! She won’t get any however, we have brought home special canned food fom the vet. She has to eat that in order to get a highly nutritious diet in her. I have given her three needles in the neck this morning. Both she and I managed well. Carly and I slept in the living room with her.

Just to balance it off a wee bit I am bringing you a photo of the yarn combination I am going to use for the project I started yesterday.

We left the house at nine this morning and returned at eight tonight. Emma went in for surgery at eleven and at two the veterinarian called me to say it went well but it was in the nick of time since her uterus had burst and her abdominal area was filled with infectious puss that they had to rinse out. We were to pick her up at five. We have her on IV right now and it will drip until one tonight. Bill and I will stay up till then, Carly insists on camping out in the living room with me to sleep. The next two nights we’ll keep her company during nighttime. She is healthy otherwise so the vet thinks she’ll be alright . I have an array of needles here, I said I thought I’d be able to give them to her myself. Besides, my friend T is a nurse and she’ll come by tomorrow and show me the first. She came over tonight to help with the IV too, thank goodness. We told the vet she could help so we don’t have to take Emma out for a long drive back tomorrow just for some salt water in her veins.. Look at the invention Hubby came up with to keep the IV high up! It works.

We spent all day in the tiny town of Bø. People probably thought we were homeless since we spent hours at this cafeteria; first having lunch…. then coffee… then some soda were consumed. Bill brought his computer,

Carly drew in her new moleskine journal book ,

Kristi got a bit bored
and I had bought some alpaca yarn and started a new knitting project. (I had no makeup on and I looked like I had gone through a wringer so you won’t see more than my hands at work this time. I’m not that vain, but holy moley…!)

As I’m writing this it is a quarter to one and we are getting sleepy around here… Soon we’ll take her off the IV and she can move to a bigger matress to sleep if she wants to. The poor thing!

..and we are lounging in the comfy chairs and on the sofa by the fire. We talked, sometimes all at the same time time, other times just one or two..
Mom likes the get togethers, seeing her grandchildren together, seeing her two daughters who get their knitting out and think that’s a great moment sitting together hearing each others knitting needles click.

We have stuffed ourselves with turkey, mashed potatoes and all kinds of veggies, stuffing, gravy, cranberries… all of that and more. And after some cleaning up and filling the dishwasher for the first round we set the table for coffee, dessert and cakes. Good thing Christmas comes but once a year!

My sister had brought a tiramisu. Deeeelicious!!!

We are having my sister, brother- in- law, niece, nephew and mother over for turkey today so the floors had needs..
We were out last night and I suffer a little from too little sleep and a beer too many so for the most part am I sitting around just enjoying the fact that Christmas Holiday means a lot of going slowly through the day, having few -and mostly enjoyable plans, and not giving my job a single minute of my time. I drink coffee, I watch the birds outside the window, I chrochet a little, I draw and colour if I want to, I read, I watch old movies.
Emma won’t eat anything at all. We forced pills in her last night- with the result that she just threw them up again right away. We can’t do much. She drinks and sleeps. She wants to lay on the porch alot, something she usually finds very boring when no one else is out there. I coaxed her back inside when I saw she was shivering. Look at those sorry eyes! I can’t wait for tomorrow to come so we can take her in for the appointment at the animal clinic.

Bill restores his vintage snow mobile. It is giving him hours and hours of pleasant time spent with a hobby. He blogs about it, is on an internet forum getting friends he can discuss with and ask for advice, he buys stuff from the States and Canada that “is necessary” for his project, he perfects his lying skills telling wifie it costs him next to nothing every time, I pretend I believe it…

Now he tells me he has ordered a vintage helmet! We are all waiting for THAT photo!! (I should knit you one! To wear for punishment for incessant shopping on the Ebay!)Harharhar!

What did they do before computers came into our home?

What did I do? Internet has brought me new friends, resources for my hobbies, easy acess to any information I need, and don’t need- and steals time away from other things… It is both good and bad I guess..

I was silly enough to go out in order to get rid of the immense amount of wrapping paper torn off the gifts

and stop in at the store for a couple of things. What a crazy place to be!!
I am having a coffee now, candles lit. We are waiting for three people coming to help us eat some soup made from the turkey stock.

Emma kept a few pieces of turkey down this morning, being a tiny bit perkier and having no fever, we wrapped the pills in the turkey, but the one pill she won’t touch no matter what we put in it so Bill had to force it down her throat. They are digested now. but she throws up food that we gave her midmorning… The Monday when she’ll have surgery seems so far away..
