Clean, cook, tidy up!

January 31, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Boy, did I get to it this morning! Cleaning tornado, that was me. Vacuuming, cleaning floors, doing laundry, changing beds, cleaning bathroom..

I got down to some details, too;I had to admit  that most of the clutter was mine, so I decided to hide my trail. Even the knitting basket got organized!

I’ve been out in the freezing cold too, doing some shopping and visiting my mother where I had some hot soup, a coffee and a nice chat.

dsc028951Now I have been shutteling between the kitchen- preparing lasagne, listening to one of my favourite shows on the radio, ” 20 Questions”

- and the living room listening to Van Morisson on TV. Bill and I went to a consert in Oslo with him a few years ago.

Dear couch

January 28, 2009 · 2 Comments

I really needed you tonight. And you welcomed me into your arms and let me stay for as long as I wished. And I wished it for the entire evening…

and my dog needed you, too, dear couch. (Sorry about her loud snoring , though. )dsc028861

Long drive-short errands

January 28, 2009 · 1 Comment

is what this day entailed.  It’s been grey skies all day, temperatures fluctuating between -6 and +1C.  I had to do some waiting for this:

Then I spent half an hour in the neurologists’ office  and afterwards I made a stop at a store and bought this:

then I turned around and had to wait for this:

and now I’ve had some supper and the dog and I  should head out… That was in short my Wednesday.  Man……..

Lucky me- a mother

January 28, 2009 · Leave a Comment

dsc028791Yes, I know I complained in the previous post over having to be dumped on… But look at this. Am I lucky or what? I just take everything else back, this instant!

Now out for the long and winding road to Porsgrunn… It’s snowing out too. Thank goodness for the car radio. And my excellent ability to talk to myself!

Stand-in needed!

January 27, 2009 · Leave a Comment

…for other family members to dump their big and small everyday problems on. The previously used person  is  full to the brim and need time-out for unloading. Periodically it is like a long never-ending road  paved with moaning and groaning over other peoples’ nastiness.

Much like how never -ending this scarf is to me right now.

There’s another thing that came my way today- and I do not particularily find it comforting: I need to fill gas on the car, but I cannot seem to be able to open the lid to the gas tank. It’s really cold out today, minus 14 C, so I’m hoping that’s the reason! Tomorrow I’m supposed to take a very long drive to see the neurologist. And then the same long drive to go home. So I need gas!! I don’t know what to do other than hope it’s frozen and that milder weather is coming our way overnight!!

Am I nowhere near having the mental stamina to go to weaving tonight, knowing the evening entails continuing the work I was so frustrated over last time due to a mistake that had me undo hours of previous work!?!?!?

I would probably do a lot better if I could run an evening course in Godawful Cursing and Swearing instead!

January 26, 2009 · Leave a Comment

came in the mail on Saturday. It was waiting for me when i came home from my weekend away. It’s so good. I know I’ll have many good hours looking in it, reading what the illustrators and artists  say about their use of sketchbooks and journals.

Yarn- comfort

January 26, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I’ve been to the doctor’s office taking a blood test he wanted me to take after my last visit there. It was done in a flash and I went back home for a hot cup of coffee and an hour in the comfy chair before going to work. My head is heavy today, headaches lurking. Wednesday I’m supposed to see the neurologist. Long drive… Maybe I can encourage myself about it by doing some self-talk about yarnstores they have in that town!! Talking about yarn. This is what I ordered a little while ago, and it came on Friday. Can’t wait to begin a shawl and beaded wristwarmers with it..
