Crowabout group collage

I woke up at six this morning- for some reason. Gave me time for latte, journaling and listening to the radio. Haven’t done any of this all week, so it was nice.

Yard day.

May 30, 2009 · 1 Comment

It’s been very high temperatures here today and we have spent a long time in the sun working. Bill has started on the porch flooring that is to be replaced:

He was smack in the middle of the sun because the wood didn’t get delivered until about one. before that  we ran errands and he mowed the lawn where we put the garden furniture.

I potted plants:

We had steaks on the barbeque and cake  last night so today we went for the easy solution while working.

(you don’t see me barbequing much. So this is a rare shot)

Carly helped with the laundry:

Kristi packed this afternoon to go to a scout camp-out. Looks like she packed enough clothes…

We bought a new roof for the swing and an umbrella for shade on the porch today. That’ ll be good! I already laid in the garden swing reading the newspaper after I finished the planting, and I loved the new roof on it.

Our dog.

DSC04372

We’ve had a long day. We worried so much about the dog that both Bill and I got up early. That is, Bill got up before six to check on her, and then we both got up before eight.. She was crying from some kind of pain last night, we thought maybe she pulled a muscle or hurt in her joint in her “shoulder” for some reason.. Still we don’t know but she was a bit better today so what ever it was it must be passing. There’s always something with her, seems like.. She’s only six, she should be bouncy and tough. Instead she is delicate and fragile.

And grey- bearded despite not being that old. But beautiful. And kind.

And lazy. And quirky. And somewhat neurotic.

Best time of year

..is now. It’s all ahead of us. The summer, the holiday, hopefully lots of good weather. Today  is a GORGEOUS  day. We were up early, I’ve had coffee on the porch twice, we’ve been down at the building supply store ordering delivery of new wood for the porch flooring. It’s about time! The truck just pulled up.

DSC04317(1)

I am going to spend some of the afternoon getting som plants potted. Went and bought some after work yesterday. Ah- the summer!!! Ah- the sunny days.

Yesterday we barbequed, had cake and coffee because both Bill and I had our birhtdays recently. Unfortunately the dog seems to be out of sorts again. We think she has pain in her front leg or shoulder. She seems to want to rest as much as possible and her head hangs low when she walks outside, and she whimpered when she moved last night. Today she seemes a bit better…poor dog, something is always the matter with her!

I have finally taken a photo of the finished shawl that I gave to Mom for her birthday.

May 28, 2009 · Leave a Comment

All I did at the knitting cafe last night was finish a block for the Lizard Ridge afghan. I guess  I’m between knitting projects right now.

I got in!

May 28, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I have applied for English2 at the University. The government put out money for further education for teachers , a variaty of subjects have been offered and I applied for this course since I took English1 in 2004. There were few spots available for this region, but I got in. I’m really looking forward to  starting. It’s time for some input again. I’m getting paid for a full time job, but 40% of my time is set aside for this course, 60 % of my time goes to teaching at my school. I’m sure it will be fun.

The Slow Breathing Excercise turned Near Snoring Excperience

May 27, 2009 · 1 Comment

Everything possible disturbed my going to sleep last night so I think I was awake till closer to two in the morning.. The result is that I am about to fall asleep in the recliner right now. I could doze off any minute now. Kristi is stirring her latte, Carly has a snooze on the couch and so has the dog. It’s quiet.  I just have to go at my coffee to stay awake.

DSC04303

If I want to go to knitting later I have to walk the dog first, so there’s no time for Near Snoring Excperiences.  I better call Hubby who is at work in his out-of-town office. It’s his birthday today. HAPPY BIRHTDAY, BILL. See you tomorrow.

Here’s  something from my journal started i 2006. I have some pages left and am trying to finish it. I waited for mom in the car a couple of weeks ago- and had it in my purse together with a pen

Half full or half empty.. An excercise in Slow Breathing Moment

May 27, 2009 · Leave a Comment

It rained cats and dogs yesterday and today we are at risk of loosing all our hair if we go outside. The winds are strong and despite sunny weather it’s kind of cool. I’m having serial type hot flashes today- and it was the same yesterday so I was tilting towards the “My glass is half empty”- philosophy.

DSC04283

(this is my coffee mug at work. I drew it a long time ago)

But then I got to hide behind my desk instead of being present during the last two lessons at school today, so now I have corrected some tests and have decided to think of my glass as half full! My coffee mug is full of hot, fresh coffee, I’m blogging for a few minutes, I think I have an idea for my next Crowabout Collage… It’s definetly a half full glass for the time being. And I am getting so good at these little Slow Breathing Moments in between!  (God knows I have focused on practicing this last year.)

I am going to make use of my birthday present today:

DSC04287(1)

The girls gave me a gift card for unlimited(!!!…???) help making supper. So I will call home and direct them towards the right items in the fridge, so that we are close to eating by the time I get home. Wednesday we have a late meeting at work. And I need to get a couple of errands done, too.

Yesterday  I ordered yarn for this project:

American Aran Afghan

(photo from the Amazon selling the pattern)

WELL, THERE’S A PROJECT THAT WILL TAKE ME A WHILE- AND TEACH ME SOME PATIENCE (while no one can talk to me in the middle of endless counting and I’ll be talking to myself, possibly with a foul language!) What was I thinking? I’m not in a knitting mood these days…

In all fairness, I knitted one of the patches a long time ago to see if my brain could wrap itself around it. And after struggling for a while thinking it can’t possibly b a known language despite the familiar letters, it could.

Let it be noted: I bought Superwash yarn! Here. It was a third of the price compared to buying a kit from a Norwegian store. I hope it isn’t the third of the quality, too.  Half is okay with me..

Great expectation

May 25, 2009 · Leave a Comment

… I have for the yard, the summer. We are not going abroad or anything so for the most part we will stay put here or at the cottage, except for some small trips. We will hopefully have many days ahead where we can watch  the blooming plants. Some plants have started blooming, like this bush beside the porch stairs:

DSC04295(1)

Others; like these peonies, that are my favourites, will come later. I have never had these many buds on them. I counted 31!!
